The first snow of the season has finally come and I don’t know about you but I’m looking to layer in order to keep warm. Mark’s has great gifts for every Canadian including jeans, dress shirts, sweaters, and outerwear that when compiled into one outfit, makes for a cozy and comfortable look. Did you know Mark’s is the #1 retailer of jeans in Canada with brands like Levi’s, Silver, and Buffalo? It’s a terrific place for getting your men suited up in the Canadian tuxedo this holiday season. Below are some of my favourite Mark’s for Men looks; all of which make for great gift ideas.
As I mentioned in my first Mark’s post, working at Mark’s was my initial entry into the workforce. At that time they had a fairly small women’s section. Since the 90s (Yes, I actually came of age in the 90s. It isn’t just an obscure reference point) Mark’s has greatly expanded their female apparel to include a wide variety of jeans for women including brands like: Silver, Buffalo, and Levi’s.
I’m not sure anything brings me more delight than watching my children engage with various expressions of art in Vancouver. Whether it’s a visit to the VAG or a stop at the Maritime museum, I love seeing their faces light up without realizing they are being watched. That’s why I can’t wait to take them to see legendary children’s singers Sharon, Bram and friends live at the Orpheum on September 18th. I’ve been singing them songs like “Skinnamarink” and “Five Little Monkeys” since they were babies so it will be so much fun to watch Sharon and Bram perform these songs with instruments and actions.
I want my kids to know every nook and cranny of Vancouver. If we are going to make sacrifices to live in the city then we had better live! Every outing is an opportunity for adventure and now that we’re cruising around on our cargo bike, the city feel way more accessible.
We’re going car-free! I’ve been trying to convince Ben for a few years that I could manage without a vehicle since we live right in the city and public transit is readily available. We found an even greater alternative in our new cargo bike. I could go on and on about how amazing it has been to have the whole family on a bike ride.
We spent the past week in Harrison Hot Springs with my parents, siblings, spouses and kids. Eight kids, seven and under to be precise. My parents rented out a ginormous house that was formerly a B & B. It was the perfect accommodations for a group of young families and there was even a separate cabin so my parents could escape the fray. Each room had it’s own bathroom which is fairly essential or at least convenient when you have kids at various stages of potty training. There were huge grounds for the kids to explore and play equipment came with the site.
Last week I embarked on an adventure with Ardbeg Whisky to Vancouver Island. I’m writing up the trip for Vitamin Daily but I thought I’d post some photos here of the experience. It was a wicked awesome time and while it was a professional trip, it was hard to think of it as one when it was so dang fun!
I could have taken a million pictures of Ezra in his life jacket. It fit him perfectly but was just so miniature and cute! On Saturday our family had the opportunity to go out on a Dragon Boat in celebration of the Vancouver Dragon Boat Festival happening June 17-19th.
